Applications:

 

This cable is used transmit power from a service drop to a building’s meter base and then from the meter to the distribution panelboard or circuit box.  SE cable is strung above ground and is the wire that connects the overhead power lines to a building or residence where power is being used.  The cable can also be used for a variety of other applications where this particular cable type is acceptable.  This conductor is able to handle relatively high temperatures of up to 90°C and work efficiently in a wide range of climates.  The SE cable is trusted in dry desert locations because of its sunlight resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket, which keeps the conductors safe from harmful UV rays.  The cable’s construction keeps the conductors safe from corrosion due to excessive moisture as well.

In accordance with standards set forth by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a regulations and compliance organization established over 100 years ago, this product is classified as standard 44 for Type XHHW-2 conductors.

This product meets UL standard 83 for Type THHN/THWN.  THHN and THWN can be defined as jacketed aluminum or copper conductors.  THHN is most suitable for dry locations while THWN is suitable for both dry and moist climates.

This cable meets UL standard 854 for Service Entrance cables, which requires the cable to be able to handle up to 600 volts and also requires each single conductor to be protected by a sunlight resistant jacket.
